Ask the Right Question

A number of people, who approach me for a reading, expect me to guess their issues and concerns. They don’t have a question in mind, so they end up with a reading, which might be vague and not address the situation they were thinking of.

A Tarot reading works best, when a question is asked. Without a question, the reading will most likely be vague.

The objective of a Tarot reading is to empower the seeker to take positive action in order to resolve a problem or issue.  Therefore it is best to follow the tips below, if you want to get the most out of a reading:

· When you decide to consult the Tarot, it must be because of a genuine concern. Don’t approach a Tarot reading just for fun or entertainment.

· Be specific about your situation, but you don’t have to reveal your life’s history. A few phrases will do, for example: ‘I’ve recently opened a new clothes store, but sales are very slow at present. What can I do for my business to improve?’

· Only ask one question at first. More questions may come up during the reading, which you can ask when they arise.

· Don’t ask ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions.  Rather than asking ‘Will I get married this year?’ it is better to ask ‘How can I deepen and strengthen my relationship with my partner, so we both know that marriage will be right for us this year?’ Or you could ask ‘How can I attract the right partner, so marriage this year will be more likely?’

· Don’t ask about other people. The reading is for you only. If you ask about your relationship, a reading will look at your position within the relationship and the energies surrounding you. For example, it is a poor question to ask ‘Does my husband have an affair?’ or ‘Is she cheating on me?’ (Both are yes-no questions anyway.) Instead, you should ask a question that enables you to deal with such fears, e.g. ‘What can I do to improve my relationship with my husband?’ or ‘What’s going on in my relationship with my girlfriend?’

· If you feel emotionally upset, let the Reader know, unless it has already been picked up.  Some people are very good at hiding their true feelings, including anxiety, tension, depression, bereavement. These show up very often in a reading, which then opens the floodgates and may cause distress to the seeker. You may also find, that in such a situation you are less likely to be receptive to the messages given to you by the Tarot.  It is better to have a reading, when you are calm and grounded.

· Don’t ask questions about your future, such as ‘Where will I be in five years time?’ or ‘What kind of job will I be doing next year when I finish university?’ By doing this, you let a deck of cards decide your future and leave yourself waiting for something to happen rather than actively trying to achieve your goals.  You must remember that nobody can answer these questions for you. Fortune-tellers will make some educated guesses, but in reality our future cannot be predicted like that.  On the other hand, you may be already working very hard on achieving a certain goal, and you want to know, if your efforts will be rewarded. For example ‘Will I pass my exams next year?’ Of course, as mentioned before, a yes-no question is unsuitable, but a reading could advise you on the best way to take, so you can ensure that you will pass your exams.

· Don’t consult various Tarot readers and ask the same question again and again. Perhaps you get similar or different answers, but that will only lead to confusion and won’t help your quest at all. Some people want to hear a certain answer and move from one reader to the next, but this is unfortunately a waste of time and money. Once you receive an answer to your question, go away, think about it and act upon it. Observe the consequences, the changes or the effects, and if a new situation arises, that’s when you can get some clarification again if necessary. By trying to get the answer you want to hear, you ignore the truth.  Also remember that you are in control of your life, not the Tarot. Repeating the same question only hinders your progress and leads to stagnation. You will have to accept that you need to move on.

· A Tarot reading cannot answer specific questions about your health. If you experience any symptoms, you need to see your GP or health care professional.  If you are receiving treatment and need reassurance about a positive outcome, an ethical reader will not give you a definite answer but try to explore ways, which may help you achieve a positive result.

Overall, there are many questions you can ask the Tarot, but always bear in mind that the answer to a question should offer you options, opportunities, perspectives and most of all empowerment to control your own destiny. With that in mind, you will be able to ask the right question.
